Tyrannosaurus Rex, sometimes abbreiviated to T. Rex, was the top predator of the Cretaceous that occasionaly scavenged. Its lineage spans from 70 mya to 65 mya.

Facts[]

Tyrannosaurus was perhaps the most famous dinosaur with an 18 foot high body, five foot skull, and a bite force that exceeds any animal living today. Despite its large size and terrifying reputation, male tyrannosaurs at least are surprisingly caring parents. Its bite was not dangerous just because of its sheer power alone, the serrations on its teeth could get meat stuck on them and as that meat rots bacteria builds up, and if a t-rex were to bite an animal, afterwards the wound would quickly become infected and the prey item would die. Despite being the top predator of its age, tyrannosaurus was relatively slow and lumbering.

Involvement in the extinction[]

Tyrannosaurus is seen throughout the the documentary acting as both a hunter and a scavenger and is the second animal to detect the firestorms (the first being Triceratops) but most notably near the end of the documentary where a starving male attacks a Triceratops and an Ankylosaurus and kills both, but trips over the tail of the Ankylosaurus and is impaled on the remaining horn of the Triceratops, and dies, thus ending both his life and the reign of the dinosaurs.

Trivia[]

  • It has been suggested that Tyrannosaurus may have had at least a partial covering of feathers, at least as babies.
  • A recent descovery suggests that dinosaurs (including T. rex) couldn't roar.

Errors[]

  • T rex may have had feathers but this is highly debated.
  • New studies suggests that tyrannosaurus had a much thicker tail than what is depicted in the show.
